Egypt the agreement should allow the Palestinian Territories (Gaza and West Bank) unite under the unified leadership. According to the Egyptian media, in the case of signing the document, the head of the Palestinian National Authority Abbas will return control of the Gaza Strip, which now operates officially sacked by the government of Hamas.

In particular, the security forces controlled by the PNA, will return to his duties in Gaza, including at the border crossing of Rafah on the border with Egypt. It will thus be considerably weakened the international blockade of the Gaza Strip, which should lead to improved standards of living in the enclave.

In accordance with the draft agreement on reconciliation, in mid-2010 is planned to simultaneously hold elections for a new head of the PNA, as well as members of the Palestinian Legislative Council and the National Council. To monitor the elections will be a commission of senior representatives of Arab countries.
