The Pyramid of Djoser is under threat of destruction in Egypt
The reason for the sad state of the oldest large-scale stone building in the world was the suspension of restoration work in the pyramid because of lack of funding, according to the “Voice of Russia”.
The head of the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities, Mohamed Abdel Maksoud, has announced after inspection of the pyramid that other archaeological projects which are not related to safety and security of the monuments will be also suspended.
Last week, Egyptian media reported about the sad state of one of the most famous monuments of Egypt - the pyramid of Djoser in the Saqqara necropolis.
This pyramid differs from the “Great Pyramid” of Giza in height (its height is 62 m and the height of the pyramid of Cheops is 146 m) and shape (it is stepped, like Babylonian ziggurats), but nevertheless it has the historic championship.
As reported by The Daily Star, the Pyramid of Djoser is under threat of destruction in Egypt
According to the press release of the Supreme Council of Antiquities of Egypt, that the collapse took place inside the tomb.
